Use EMRs to IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF PATIENTS - a potential point of difference for Accruo.

EMRs are at their core a way to improve the efficiency of a medical centre, typically saving time with regard to billing, charting, resource management and the like. Healthcare at its core is an inefficient reactive system that does not promote health but rather patches illness. Thus EMRs were a welcome addition as healthcare needed and continues to need improvement. The next step in an EMRs evolution should be one of PROACTIVE HEALTHCARE. Whereby an EMR is utilized as a platform to automatically communicate messages of health and wellness from physicians to their patient. This can for example be used to improve compliance on a complex treatement regimen via an opt in automatic email campaign built within Accuro. If the platform is built well within the EMR environment then the type of communication and benefits will really only be limited by ones imagination.

    We will not be implementing an external e-mail integration into Accuro, as transmitting health records via e-mail poses a risk to the privacy and security of a patient's personal health information (PHI).

    Our Patient Engagement Tools (Secure Patient Messaging, Online Booking, Appointment Notifications, Video Visits) are Accuro's solution to this, which you can learn more about here.
    Secure Patient Messaging, specifically, allows providers and patients to communicate with one another, and as one example, use the Query Builder to identify patients based on a set of parameters, and send messages en mass.
