drug interactions setup

The main problem is that we quite frequently prescribe combination of short acting and long acting opioids. This always comes up as drug interaction. Also, we frequently prescribe Gabapentin and every time we go over 2400mg a day it gives a warning that it exceeds maximal dose. In fact, the maximal dose is much higher, 3600mg according to the books, and some doctors go up to 4800mg. Most of our doctors prescribe 3000-3600mg, so every time we will have to manage this warning, which is very annoying. I think the drug interaction module should be setup to allow us to set interactions as "contraindicated only" or should have the ability to record interactions physicians deem as clinically non-significant and avoid pop-ups with requirement to manage them every single prescription.

Prescription Managements can be saved as favorites, to be used again later. If you are consistently managing the same medications for the same reasons, this can be useful.

When in the Screening Profile window:

    1. Set the parameters of your prescription management, as usual

    2. Click the Star icon in the bottom left, to save a preferred management

    3. Click on the cogwheel icon in the bottom left > Check: Automatically apply previous managements > <OK>

The next time you a presented with this management for that drug, you can just hit <OK> without having to complete the fields.

Additionally, for Drug to Drug interactions, you can set a preference for which severity of interactions require management. They will still display for you, but management will not be required.

Preferred Managements and Interaction Management levels can be set by going to: Accuro Menu > Search: Preferred Prescription Management

If you require assistance with any of these workflows, please contact the service desk at 1-866-729-8889; a Client Services Analyst would be happy to help you.
