Renewing Prescriptions and Updating a Patient's Medical Summary Right From the Documents Screen

From the documents screen (where all incoming, scanned documents first appear and await to be reviewed by the clinician), there should be the ability to push a button and bring up the right handed column entitled "medical history" which appears under the "encounter notes" section. This medical history section includes history of problems, surgical/medical history, active medications, etc. So often I want to renew a prescription right from this document screen (after receiving a document prescription renewal request from the pharmacy which has been scanned) or update my patient's medical summary right from this screen (after receiving a specialist's consultation letter which has been scanned) and I always have to push EMR (which causes me to leave the documents screen), then renew that prescription or update that profile and then I have to push documents to go back to the documents screen to continue reviewing documents. Obviously this takes several clicks of the mouse AND REMEMBER THIS IS BEING DONE MANY DOZENS OF TIMES EACH DAY for some clinicians. The ability to push a button to bring up this right handed column or have this column always be present on the right side of the documents screen would eliminate this problem so these tasks could be easily done from within the documents screen and the user wouldn't have to leave the documents screen until they were done reviewing all their documents. I think this idea would solve this problem and make every clinician's life a lot easier.
