Tasks - Numbers to Reflect Selected Filters

Currently, the task count on the left hand side shows total number of OVERDUE tasks regardless of which filters you have selected. and I do understand why this is, however it would be nice if there was some sort of way to outline the total number of tasks in each different task-filter-category per user. For example, I have a user that wanted to see the number of tasks she had related to referrals (we have 3 or 4 different filters for referrals within tasks) and she is only able to see the number of overdue tasks she has for ALL categories - not just referrals. Maybe even a count at the bottom of the home screen that changes depending on the filters the user uses? That way we still know we have __ number of overdue tasks total, but we have ___ tasks pertaining to referrals. Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated!!!!
