US Robotics USB External Modem

There should be a better and more robust way to sending digital faxes IN and OUT of the office. Our fax line keeps on failing. Issue: We installed this preferred modem as per Accuro. It would freeze if it handles too many IN and OUT going faxes. There was no solution between Accuro IT staff and our IT person after days/week of trialing many things. Conclusion: This fax modem cannot handle HIGH volume faxing and freezes (without warning) when it cannot handle IN and OUT going fax volumes. These are lost referrals for the clinic! Solution: We resorted to having to QUEUE all our outgoing faxes to end of day to keep the incoming line open for fax referrals. Before day's end, staff will then send out the queued letters daily. Suggestion for Accuro: I have seen many EMR programs. Plexia MER has a great INTEGRATED solution by using a dedicated Fax Server. Sure it is more expensive, but it is very robust, it uses the data line (rather than phone line) so you save on long distance charges, can handle any volume of faxes in and out. The downside is more expense immediately, but this is the LIFELINE of every clinic so functionality is more important than saving a couple hundred dollars. Accuro needs to have an integrated solution rather than outsource it to yet another 3rd party company (like Unite).
