Prescriptions - free text option

Currently the only thing close to free-texting a prescription is through non-drug compound, etc. Many of our scripts still get written on paper pads because the EMR feels obstructive. The following take a few seconds to type, but much longer to tick the boxes in Accuro: 1. Diabetic testing supplies for 1 year (paid by the local employer or band) 2. Tylenol by weight, 15 kg, 1 bottle 3. Lace-up ankle brace 4. 2.5% HC in Aquaphor ointment for eczema, apply to moist skin bid until resolved, 100g 5. Penicillin V 300 mg tabs, start 600 mg qid until pain reduces, then continue 300 mg qid until seeing the dentist (just an example of sometimes needing a bit more flexibility).. Please give us a completely free-text option for prescribing.

Agreed.  Free Text Rx perhaps should be an additional option to new rx, compound rx.  Just with the warning that interactions with other medications may not be noted by accuro.  It may not have the capacity to show up red if needs renewed etc but at least would show up in a (perhaps new) medication section and be simple.
