Add a secondary drop down field for Patient Status so we can add details for Status

One of the issues we have is "who is my patient?" Panel management is important in primary care. Here are possible ways to do this "active" (this is currently my patient), "inactive" (this is currently not my patient); "deceased" "other". Currently, we have a lot of terms in Patient status that are more detailed descriptions, but make the list too long and also confusing and possibly less accurate (patient left, patient was dismissed: these are all sub-groups of "inactive"). We would benefit from a second drop down list to further describe "other" (external pts referred to us for palliative care or other services; transient pt; nursing home pt; etc.) There is only 1 drop down for patient status, can a second drop down field beside it to indicate details of status be added? Then we could have "inactive", details: patient dismissed; patient left for other location; patient switched physician; other This would enable a more accurate description of patient Status; knowing who our patients are is important.
