Macros are a very useful feature, though have significant limitations. One of the limitations is that you cannot bring in Physical History/Lab items such as blood pressure, or last A1C into the module you are working on through a simple keystroke.
Imagine being able to type out your clinical encounter note, and type out lastA1C, control enter, and this would import your A1C into the encounter note, without having to go to the lab window, drag and drop. It is a huge efficiency saver. The trouble with template queries is that they are global, meaning, everyone needs to see them until otherwise designated. They also make it difficult to add things on the fly. There would be much more versatility and efficiency with charting and information retrieval.
