When using the patient head button beside the first name field to add a patient alias the alias name is appended in brackets to the first name field in the database. This is causing billing rejects with MB health as the demographics do not match.
This name should be stored as a separate field in the database to prevent it from being submitted with claims.
Having preferred name as separate from Alias requires us to enter the same information twice just so it shows in specific areas in Accuro.
Alias is searchable, preferred name is not.
Preferred name is displayed on the Scheduler, Alias is not.
Why have 2 separate entities for essentially the same thing? Merging them into one field would be ideal.
Preferred first name is causing lab matching issues, a separate field would help with this.
This is what I thought was happening for me too. The claim would not submit, as Accuro says "wrong name." However, I think I figured out that it's not the preferred name. The issue seemed to occur when the patient has a double first name in the first name field (regardless of whether it is hyphenated or not.)
It's not just a billing issue, but when writing letters, it looks goofy to say, "Dear Charles (Butch) ..." It should just say "Dear Butch", if that is the preferred name
I've created a case for our Client Services team to reach out to you and investigate this as Patient Preferred Name should not be causing rejections.
