I am an ophthalmologist and have a large number of patients on chronic medication. In Nova Scotia ,where I work, pharmacies are obliged by legislation to terminate all prescriptions at one year from writing. It is unclear whether they are obliged to inform me. Often, the patient will be informed and I will find out some months later that for example , glaucoma medications have been stopped. Normally this is not a feature as I se these people twice a year n but with COVID . I am now a year behind and it is going to take a year or two to catch up again. It would be very useful and safer if I could receive notice of these medication expiries.
