Enhance information displayed when validating healthcard
Accuro’s healthcard validation interface only sends back the coded status of the healthcard.
MCI Polyclinic’s previous vendors EMR vendors ( P&P and ABEL) al returned the following valuable information
1. Patient full name ( as registered on OHIP)
2. Patient Birthdate
Patient birthdate is important because if it is incorrect, for example day and month is reversed, the billing will be rejected . This requires the time consuming process of either trying to get a hold of the patient or calling into Service Ontario and staying on hold.
Many staff go into there previous EMR and validate the healthcard to get the correct birthdate. This is also time consuming but less so then the two options above.
This information is available through the Healthcard validation protocols as it is included in other EMR’s and would greatly benefit clinics to get paid promptly and save staff time chasing information.
