We need the ability to enter our own ICD9 codes and descriptions into the EMR. E.g. Accuro does not have a proper ICD code for something as simple as sleep apnea. We also need to be able to edit the codes that were imported from our previous EMR. They got assigned as Custom Codes (even though they had proper ICD9 codes in the previous EMR) and therefore can't be used for billing or for submitting panels for complexity payment. Accuro's ICD9 codes and linking are a disaster. First of all, they are in ALL CAPS so when you send a referral letter with a history of problems, IT LOOKS REALLY SHOUTY AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I always enter details to clarify, but those details don't go out with the history item. We are stuck using the accuro icd9 codes if we want to capture our patients' complexity for billing, but it looks horrendous.
