Some EMRs like Oscar are able to print duplicate opiate prescriptions. The College of Physicians and Surgeons in BC provides special printer friendly duplicate prescription pads that can be printed directly from the EMR. It is not possible to do this in Accuro. Currently in BC, you have to hand write the prescription including the patients health number, address, then calculate all of the prescription details including writing out numbers. Then you ahve to phone the pharmacy to confirm. Then you have to fax the duplicate to the pharmacy. The duplicate prescription is then scanned into the EMR. In order to have functionallity of med tracking you then have to enter the prescription details as an external prescription. If you have just read all of this, then you have some idea of how time consuming and frustratint this is. Prease prioritize addressing this!
