Feature Request: AI-Powered Search of Patient Charts and Uploaded Medical Records

I would like to suggest adding an AI-powered search capability within Accuro EMR that would allow physicians to search a patient's entire chart, including large imported PDF medical records ( Great help in case of physican relocation in which most physicians receive huge PDF files), using natural-language prompts.

Currently, when a patient's records are transferred from another physician or clinic, they are often uploaded into the chart as one or more PDF files. These files can range from a few hundred pages to well over 1,000–2,000 pages. Finding a specific piece of information may therefore require manually reviewing hundreds of pages.

This becomes particularly difficult when looking for information such as:

• Previous specialist consultations and their dates

• Prior imaging or investigation results

• Historical diagnoses or treatments

• Specific medications previously prescribed

• Hospitalizations or procedures

• Information requested by insurance companies or other authorized organizations

It would be extremely useful if Accuro could securely index the patient's chart and uploaded documents and allow the physician to ask natural-language questions such as:

"When did this patient see a cardiologist, and what was the outcome?"

"Find all previous colonoscopies and pathology results."

"List all specialist consultations between 2020 and 2025, including the specialist, date, and reason for consultation."

Ideally, the results would provide links or references to the original document and page, allowing the physician to immediately verify the information rather than relying solely on an AI-generated summary.

Although external AI tools can analyze large documents, uploading identifiable patient medical records to third-party systems raises significant privacy and confidentiality concerns. Therefore, having this functionality securely integrated within the EMR would be considerably more useful and appropriate for clinical practice.

Some medical AI/scribing platforms are beginning to offer similar functionality, but current implementations I have used have limitations in accuracy, document size, and search capability. For example, some cannot process files greater than approximately 500 pages, which is inadequate for many transferred medical records.

A secure, accurate, EMR-integrated AI chart search / “Ask the Patient Chart” feature capable of searching both structured chart information and large uploaded PDFs would significantly reduce physician administrative time and improve access to clinically important historical information.

I believe this could be an extremely valuable feature for Accuro users, making it a quite exceptional EMR among others ( better than what it is now) and would appreciate your consideration for future development.
