This would be a great idea, if optometrist could be included as well that would be useful.
I worry about the creation of this feature causing the loss of user's careful and time consuming work of manually adding provider contacts. As someone who has put a lot of time and effort into manually adding provider contacts into my address book, I would not like this feature, if it meant it would override the info that is currently there. Most times the info on the College of Physicians & Surgeon's website (where EMR systems would pull provider info from) is not correct or complete. This feature would only be helpful if it notified you of possible updates and asked you if you wanted to do them first (which would be quite high tech, I think most likely it would just be an automated update that would replace any info currently there).
yes doctors and pharmacies should be able to be downloaded monthly or pushed to the EMR. We had to come up with a standard way to enter all the doctors and the shoppers drug marts ( for ex) as the admin staff were each doing it their own way...I think this should be a process decided by Accuro so that the staff can spend time doing what they do:)
I think it should be monthly as there are changes all the time with physicians sometimes. New dr's always being added
totally agree. Such a pain to manually add in new docs all the time.
This is such a critical feature... Even if there's a way to import CVS and have a system to match / remove / update duplicates.
Having the attached billing number is essential!
It is a good Idea:)
I agree with you. currently I am the only admin for a thoracic surgeon, so If there is a way to have automatically implement referring physicians (IE family Physicians) in accuro as in would be great. It needs to include, referring physicians, addresses, billing number, fax and telephone number. As entering manually is very time consuming.
If QHR were able to update the current address book entries through current provincial listing with up to date addresses and phone numbers that would be great. It would save staff a lot of time.
Currently, I think that any downloads from the registry (input file) will overwrite the address book. I will be glad if QHR will be able to confirm this. Optional update is recommended if it does overwrite the existing entries in the address book. Any upgrades to this feature must be intelligent enough to only apply changes and leave other existing records intact in the address book.
I would sell my soul for this option :)
I would hope that this update would be optional as we have spent a lot of time cleaning up our address book, I wouldn't want a bunch more added if a download/upload was done.
