When we change the doctors in the patient information section, would there be a way to prompt the individual and ask 'would you like to change this for all future appointments?' and apply that change if they select yes?
At the present time, we understand that the family doctor/referring doctor attached to an appointment reflects the care providers at the time the appointment was made. Often, when patients present for their appointment, we are updating this information. We have been told that if we want this update to reflect in the appointment, we have to change it there too. This extra step is often forgotten or seen at duplicate entry. As a result, when we generate a letter (dictation, usually) on the day of appointment, it is being sent to the wrong doctor(s) as it is pulling their old doctors, not the newly updated ones.
