Opiod / Benzodiazepine medication prescriptions

When writing out opiods, benzodiazepines, stimulants etc., we are required to write out the total quantity (in numbers and words), part fill quantity (in numbers and words) and part fill interval. In Saskatchewan, this prescribing practise replaces the old triplicate system. With electronically generated prescriptions, I do not see how "triplicate" is relevant anymore. Some provinces might be holding on to it still. It would be appreciated if the class of drug could be recognised as a certain schedule level and then that Accuro automatically brings up the fields. Simply typing in the number (amount) can lead to the written (word) quantity appearing adjacent to the number. If recognising the pertinent schedule level is too difficult a programming issue, then simply having all drug amounts/quantities appearing in number AND word format with an adjacent interval box would be a solution.

    Admin response

An update has been made to allow users to manually check and uncheck the Triplicate check box. Systems Administrators can manage this via a System Setting. The new ‘Override Triplicates’ checkbox is in Manage Security > System Settings > General tab.
