Make Surgical Pathology its own Lab Result for Review

  1. Surgical pathology results indicate if a patient has cancer or not, and to what extent.
  2. Surgical pathology results are, therefore,  one of the most critical lab values.
  3. Surgical pathology results are often grouped in with (hidden among) other less relevant or routine lab results.
  4. It is easy to miss a surgical lab result when grouped with other labs like routine blood work, especially since pathology results are typically at the bottom of the list of results, requiring MD to scroll all the way to bottom.
  5. It would be a critical error for surgeon (or any MD) to inadvertently "review" a group of lab results without recognizing they had also reviewed the surgical pathology.
  6. This could result in patient not getting treatment for cancer.
  7. Surgical Pathology deserves its own separate lab result for review so the presence of this result is clear to the reviewing MD
  8. Accuro should take immediate steps to address this very serious flaw in order to protect patient care and minimize potential liability from missed critical information.
