This bug creates 2 very significant problems that require extra unnecessary MOA work, result in issues with billing, and medicolegal complications for physicians:
Medicolegal issues with communication:
If on the day of the visit, demographic info is updated, and staff forget to update today's bill, the consultation letter goes to the wrong physicians (referring MD or primary care provider), despite this information being updated in the correct location in the software. Then the receiving MD's office have to reply that they are not the patients physician, and everything has to be resent (wasted MOA work). this assumes the other office communicates back this is not their patient (this does not always occur in a timly fashion!).
Billing audit issues:
From an audit perspective, we're submitting bills with incorrect referring MD's due to this bug.
Solution:
There should be an "Update all future bills" button under the demographics section where you make this change, to apply it to all future bills already on the schedule going forward.

This is very necessary.
There is a disconnect between the physician linked to the appt, and the family/referring physician in the pt demographics.
