In Alberta, other EMR platforms offer the functionality to link results on the chart based on the clinical practice guidelines for preventative screening. For example, when a screening maneuver is due or overdue such as pap (F 25-69 q3 years), there is a reminder that turns red indicating to the physician that screening is due. This gives the physician the opportunity to recommend the screening at the time of the patient visit rather than relying on the annual physical, which the research is showing is ineffective. When the pap result comes in, the reminder is removed as it is no longer due.
